I have been a Royalty Free Clip Art artist for over 20 years. My first job out of Art School was an assistant screen printer, so I am able to create clip art that is not only unique but is perfect for such industries as screen printing T-Shirts and sign making. I have held the roles of Art Director, Senior Artist and Graphic Designer so I create my images as if I were still the consumer. First and foremost when I start out to create an illustration, I consider the end user's needs, but also will the illustration that I create, make a visual impact on the viewer or the end user's audience. Another consideration is the target audience of the customer. What age group is the audience? What are the current market trends? Will the image be "hip" enough for the times? After I answer these questions, then I set out to do the rough draft. I create 99% of all of my clip art on the computer. I use Adobe Illustrator as I find it meets my needs, both as a designer but also as a designer that creates a product for consumers. I can save the files in various industry-standard formats and I can color separate the files easily for both screen printers and publishers.
